The 55th annual MNJOA Conference was held January 27 - 29, 2010 in Duluth, MN.
We had
another incredible conference! We thank everyone who was able to attend

Officer of the year Award Winner
Detective Won Chau
Roseville Police Department
Detective Won Chau has been a sworn police officer with the
Roseville Police Department since 1996. In the past thirteen years, Detective
Chau has been involved in numerous activities and leadership roles working with
youth. Won is an extremely dedicated Officer, whose exceptional service to youth
is apparent in his day to day work. He has served as a background investigator,
a field training officer, and a member of the SWAT team. He is also active with
the Asian Peace Officer’s Association.
For
the past five years, Won has been assigned as a Juvenile Detective. His primary
duties include the investigation of cases involving youth, ranging from
shoplifting, sexual assaults, and child abuse. He is considered the go‐to person
within the department with any cases involving juveniles and spends considerable
time each day working with families to find appropriate resources. Prior to this
assignment, Detective Chau served as a School Liaison Officer for Roseville Area
High School, as well as a DARE Officer, and continues to work at school events
and has been a valuable training resource for new Liaison Officer’s.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD
Pamela Taschuk
Pam Taschuk is receiving the MN Juvenile Officers Association
Outstanding Service Award posthumously. Pam was a dedicated licensed Social
Worker specializing in youth issues in Minnesota.
Her impressive career included working with
several school districts and police departments in the Twin Cities Metropolitan
area and in a variety of capacities, but always in a youth related capacity.
She
worked as a non-licensed Juvenile School Officer with the Richfield and Fridley
Police Departments, as a School Social Worker with the Brooklyn Center Schools,
as a Family Support Worker on the School Based Team Unit with Anoka County, and
as a Social Worker/Truancy Officer with BlueSky Charter School. She was
instrumental in positively impacting the lives of many juveniles and adults
throughout her life. Pam served for several years on the MN Juvenile Officers
Board and Planning Committee where her exuberance and love of life captivated
everyone and whose presence will be sorely missed. She was a dear friend to many
members of MNJOA and her enthusiasm and caring nature will never be forgotten.
